In Week 8, the Vikings triumphed 24-10 at Lambeau Field. The Vikings have gone 3-4 with a bye week after that game, while the Packers have gone 5-3. Both clubs are now 7-8 and on the bubble for the playoffs; they are not mathematically out of the running, but they are not in the running coming into this week.
The Packers are 30-31 away from Minnesota, but they lead the series all-time 64-57-3 during the regular season. In the previous three seasons, the rivals have shared the season series.
This is Green Bay’s first prime-time New Year’s Eve game since 2006. Additionally, it will be the first time in the regular season that the Packers play games on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. Of those three games this season, the Packers have won two of them: 29-22 at Detroit and 33-30 at Carolina.
The meeting between Green Bay and Minnesota in Week 17 of the regular season occurs for the second consecutive year.
