JUST IN: Storm forward gaining interest from several clubs…

After agreeing to a player swap with the Wests Tigers that resulted in the loss of Justin Olam, the Melbourne Storm

may be about to lose another player in the coming days.

According to Love Rugby League, as the 2024 season draws near, Melbourne Storm player Aaron Pene is receiving

offers from a number of foreign teams.

According to the publication, teams in the RFL Championship and Super League are interested in hiring him. The

London Broncos, Salford Red Devils, Warrington Wolves, or big-spending Featherstone Rovers are among the teams

that may end up with him.

Outside of a contract Pene will have played in 32 NRL games as of the end of this year, eight of which were from the

previous season. Pene spent his whole second spell with the team—having left for the New Zealand Warriors for a

year in 2022—as an interchange bench player.

He has had to deal with Christian Welch and Nelson Asofa-Solomona at the age of 28, but now he will have to

compete for a spot against Shawn Blore, a recruit, and other young, promising players who are making their way up

the ranks.

Pene would join Tom Eisenhuth (St George Illawarra Dragons), Jayden Nikorima (Catalan Dragons), Justin Olam

(Wests Tigers), and Tariq Sims (Catalan Dragons) as the sixth player to go from the Storm’s roster from the previous

campaign.
