Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen’s futures may be determined by the New York Giants in
the 2024 NFL Draft. A crucial choice as quarterback faces the team: whether to continue playing with Daniel Jones
behind center or look for a successor, who would then be released from the team following the 2024 campaign.

While Jones’s feature is undoubtedly uncertain, the Giants are reportedly considering other options in mock
selections. Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com reports that Malik Nabers of LSU, who may not be Jayden Daniels to fill the
quarterback position but is one of the best playmakers in this upcoming draft class, is chosen by Big Blue. Nabers is
an intriguing wide receiver with explosive potential and WR1 upside. He hauled in 89 receptions for 1,569 receiving
yards and 14 touchdowns for LSU during the previous season. He produced several extremely thrilling and
exhilarating moments, averaging 17.6 yards per reception.

Nabers possesses outstanding hands that should translate to the next level, in addition to his ability to attack the
deeper areas of the field. Nabers possesses the whole package and was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award this past
season. With his exceptional route running skills combined with incredible strength and acceleration, he can be a top
receiver for a team like the Giants right away.
Naturally, even with the arrival of Kenny Golladay in free agency, Big Blue has not provided Jones with a truly
outstanding receiver to work with. After Daboll took over the scheme in 2022, Golladay lost his footing and never
reached his full potential. The Giants might want to give Jones another chance to use a top-tier pass catcher because
that signing was a total bust. But his salary is still a roadblock, and the Giants will probably have to let go if they hope
to have any hope of obtaining impact players in the upcoming free agency class.
With three quarterbacks off the board in a row at selection number one for Jeremiah, the draft this year should be
plenty of surprises. Drake Maye is heading to the Commanders, Caleb Williams to the Bears, and Jayden Daniels to
the Patriots. With the fourth overall pick, the Arizona Cardinals select Marvin Harrison Jr., while the Chargers pass
on Nabers to select Rome Odunze out of Washington.
Though it is difficult to argue that three quarterbacks could be selected right away in the draft, given that every team
in the top eight needs a new signal-caller, the process rarely goes as planned.
The Giants might advance and sign a top talent who has the ability to drastically alter the franchise’s trajectory if the
Bears decide to stay with Justin Fields and make a move back.
It is uncommon to have the first pick in both seasons, though, and the Bears have set themselves up nicely to develop
around a young quarterback and reset the rookie quarterback window without having to give up any more money.
Alternatively, they could use a trade-back to essentially rebuild their whole squad over the following few seasons, but
that would require Fields to make significant progress or they would eventually need to find a quarterback to fill the
void.
It raises a lot of important concerns for the Giants, and Schoen will have his work cut out for him in determining the
best course of action for this squad going forward.
