Instead of Antonio Pierce, who was serving as an interim head coach, the Las Vegas Raiders announced their new general manager and head coach on Wednesday. Speaking candidly about his thoughts on the future and his choice to take the job, former Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco won over the audience today.

On Wednesday, Telesco and Pierce got into a lot of arguments. They discussed what it means to wear the shield on your jersey or blazer and to be a Raider employee. They discussed their reasons for accepting the position and its significance to them. But among the more significant topics covered—and something that most fans have been eager to learn about—was Telesco’s strategy to approaching the Raiders in terms of developing the team’s roster.
Some fans might find Telesco’s response to be intriguing.
“As far as building the roster, you’re working through the vision of the head coach,” Telesco stated. “You construct it that way, taking into account his preferences for offense, defense, and special teams play. There are numerous conversations when issues are resolved. We will have the ability to exchange thoughts with one another.

“There is no one right technique to assemble a squad while building a team. Everyone usually says that they believe in the draft, but in reality, I do believe in it. However, you also need to add free agency to that. You need to make trades to augment that. Within the limitations of the pay ceiling, you have to take use of every option available to you.”
Raiders supporters are concerned that Telesco will not assemble the ideal team for Pierce to coach. However, comparing the names on the Chargers roster to his time in Los Angeles, he never produced a subpar product.
Whether it was Khalil Mack, Derwin James, Joey Bosa, Rashawn Slater, Justin Herbert, or Khalil Mack, he was good at bringing quality to the Chargers. However, he is also in charge of agreements like the horrible J.C. Jackson deal. The Chargers cap situation was destroyed by him.
When you consider how the previous regime handled a similar scenario, his response becomes even more helpful. Dave Ziegler or Josh McDaniels truly made all of the decisions for the Raiders, but we were never sure who was in charge. Telesco swiftly announced their alliance to all.
