According to reports, Jim Harbaugh is bringing a crucial member of his Michigan staff to the Los Angeles Chargers.
According to Sam Webb of 247Sports, defensive coordinator Jesse Minter told the Michigan players on Saturday that
he will travel with Harbaugh to the NFL. Minter’s (40) projected appointment to Harbaugh’s staff was anticipated.
His next career move was to become an NFL coach after spending two seasons as Michigan’s defensive coordinator
(he had previously spent one season as Vanderbilt’s DC). Minter has four years of experience with the Baltimore
Ravens under John Harbaugh’s coaching.

In addition, he served as the Wolverines’ temporary head coach during their season-opening match against East
Carolina while Michigan suspended head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore for alleged
recruiting infractions. In 2023, Michigan’s total defense led the country, giving up only 10.4 points per game while
surrendering 247 yards. In the national championship game, Minter’s defense was particularly strong, limiting
Washington to 46 rushing yards and 13 points while limiting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to 255 passing yards and
two interceptions.

To improve on their 5–12 record from the previous season, the Chargers will require a significant defensive
makeover. With 4,580 yards allowed and 24th in points allowed per game (23.4), the club finished second-to-last in
the NFL despite having star players in Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack, and Derwin James.
