Following Lando Norris’s revelation that he had no desire to work with Max Verstappen at Red Bull, fans of Formula
1 have criticized the McLaren driver for not having a “world champion mentality.”
In advance of the 2024 Formula 1 season, Norris signed a new contract with McLaren, ending rumors that he might
join Red Bull.

Norris said that replacing Sergio Perez at Red Bull would not be a “smart move”.
It’s very hard for anyone, even a Max from a few years ago, to go up against the Max of today because he’s on a team
where he feels very comfortable and because a lot of things are designed around him, according to Norris.
Therefore, I don’t believe the question should be, “Are you terrified or not scared? Although I doubt I would ever be
afraid to confront someone, even if I were to join a team, would I be in a position to do so right away and with
comfort?
“I believe that no motorist should do it. Going against the world’s finest driver is not the wisest course of action
because it takes time to adjust and settle in. It’s not a wise course of action.

His explanation did not sit well with F1 fans on X (formerly known as Twitter), who asserted that in spite of his
denials, Norris was ‘afraid’ to join Red Bull and prove he could go head-to-head with the current world champion.
Supporters with sharp eyes cited earlier statements made by Lewis Hamilton, stating that he would be delighted to
compete against Verstappen in the same vehicle. Others contended that Charles Leclerc would not back down from
the challenge.
