The skilled five-eighth Jarome Luai has joined the Wests Tigers on a five-year contract; this development could pave
the way for a significant Super League trade.

The $6 million deal means that the Penrith Panthers will need a halfback going forward, and they may decide to look
to the Super League.
A huge win for the Tigers is Luai. After the 2019–20 season concludes, the three-time premiership-winning
playmaker will become a member of the side. After making his Panthers debut in 2018, Luai has participated in 107
games and has spent the previous six seasons with the organization. In addition to playing a key role in Penrith’s
three straight grand final victories over the past three years, the 26-year-old has seven State of Origin appearances
under his belt and has represented New South Wales. Benji Marshall, the head coach of the Wests Tigers, is excited
about Luai’s arrival to the team and thinks he will be a really valuable asset.
Marshall posted on the team’s official website, “We are extremely happy to announce the signing of Jarome for the
2025 season on a five-year contract.”
“His background as a true premiership-winning playmaker will be invaluable to us and our team’s future.” Not only
does Jarome play fantastic football, but we also think he is a wonderful person.

“Season 2024 is our priority right now, but we very much look forward to welcoming Jarome and his family to our
club in 2025.”
Penrith will need to find a replacement halfback because Luai will not be returning for the 2025 NRL season. In
addition to the possibilities they already have at the club, such as former Hull KR and Canberra Raiders halfback
Brad Schneider, they might also check out Super League options.
Lewis Dodd, who defeated them with a Golden Point Drop Goal in the World Club Challenge last year, will probably
be at the top of their list.
The contract for Dodd expires at the conclusion of this year. He can choose to stay with the team until 2026, and
rumors have it that the Saints may be going to present him with an offer akin to what they made for Jack Welsby.
Josh Drinkwater, an accomplished NRL halfback who saw great success in Super League with the Catalans Dragons
and Warrington Wolves, is an additional choice. Is a trip back down beneath possible?
Lachlan Lam, a star with the Leigh Leopards, has been a prominent target for NRL clubs lately. After Canberra
Raiders expressed interest, the halfback signed a new contract that would last until 2025, although Penrith could try
to buy him out of that deal if they have the funds.
This is where things become a little complicated because players with long-term contracts, such as Brodie Croft,
Mikey Lewis, and George Williams, are involved. Penrith could move on their behalf, but it would be very
challenging.
