In an effort to increase their level of competition heading into the 2024 season, Red Bull’s junior team has appointed
three important seniors.
The team hired Tim Goss, a former technical director of McLaren, to serve as chief technology officer. Last week, the
team changed their name to RB, short for Racing Bulls.
Additionally, Alan Permane, who was fired by Renault last year, will serve as the racing director and oversee
engineering operations during races.
Guillaume Catellani is a new deputy technical director who comes from Red Bull’s senior staff.

Goss becomes the team’s engineering lead and reports to new team principal Laurent Mekies, who arrived from
Ferrari last year. Goss resigned from his role as technical director for the FIA earlier this month.
Mekies stated: “The appointments of Tim, Guillaume and Alan add a vast amount of winning expertise to the team,
and I have no doubt that they will help take the team to the next level in F1.”We already have a very capable and
experienced group on the team, and adding people with their level of competence like Tim, Guillaume, and Alan will
help us reach the highest technical requirements at the track and in the factory.”
Goss worked for McLaren for 28 years before being let go in 2018 as the team underwent a reorganization as a result
of declining performance.

He stated: “There’s an exciting challenge ahead of us but I think the team is well-equipped to meet that head on.”
With Catellani following in seniority, the 60-year-old is in charge of the team’s technical department and will
supervise technical director Jody Eggington.
In the midst of the previous season, Permane—who had worked for Renault under several names for 34 years—was
let go by a management change that also resulted in the dismissal of team principal Otmar Szafanauer and the
decision of chief technical officer Pat Fry to join Williams.
Permane, a highly esteemed individual in Formula One, has been promoted from his previous role at Renault.
He stated: “After a few months of downtime, it’s great to return to racing again.”I’ve worked with this race team for a
long time, so I know how dedicated, professional, and competitive the members are. I’m excited to see where this
team’s competitive spirit will take them.”
