RIGHT IN: Warriors Draws Trade Interest From Play-in Contender…

A play-in team in the Eastern Conference is interested in Golden State Warriors’ injured backup point guard Chris Paul.

With the trade deadline of February 8 just a few days away, Action Network’s Matt Moore reports that the Orlando Magic

had Paul and another veteran guard on their radar.

The Magic have been searching for long-term point guard assistance for more than a year. Before the Raptors hung onto

Fred VanVleet (and lost him in free agency), they were involved in negotiations with him last year. Orlando has explored

every possible possibility available, and sources told Moore on February 3 that the team is now interested in two

veterans, Kyle Lowry and Chris Paul.

This season, the Magic have cooled off after a scorching start. With a 26-23 record, they are now ranked eighth in the

East.

Moore went on, “Details of negotiations are unknown, but each team is interested in Jonathan Isaac and Moses Moody as

possible trade targets.”

Paul, 38, is presently recuperating from his second left hand metacarpal fracture. Five days ago, he was cleared to start

mild individual on-court workouts while wearing a splint on his hand. Before the All-Star break, the Warriors’ medical

team will reevaluate him.

However, Moody is far closer to playing again than Paul is.

After missing practice on January 10 due to a grade 1 strain in his left calf, Moody has returned to the Warriors. Moody,

21, scored 21 points in a row in his previous games against the Toronto Raptors and the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Warriors’ problems have sparked trade rumors, but coach Steve Kerr has stuck to his conviction that they can turn

things around with their present squad.

“We won’t find better players than those guys [Chris Paul and] in a trade,” Kerr declared on January 31 on the “Willard &

Dibs” program of 95.7 The Game. Making a contract where you can elevate your talent to that degree is really uncommon.

Getting those guys back excites me. Moses [Moody] as well. Although we haven’t had enough staff for the past two weeks,

all three of those men can undoubtedly be of great assistance to us.

There were also constant trade speculations circulating about Andrew Wiggins.

“A deal is virtually always unlikely, in my opinion. That doesn’t imply that a deal won’t be struck,” Kerr went on. The

truth is that hardly much happens around most trade deadlines. You simply try to do the best you can with the team at

that specific moment, and that’s what we’re doing at the moment. We are improving, I believe.Although we had two really

difficult losses this week, I like the way our squad is going and the players who are recovering from injuries.

On Saturday, February 3, the Warriors fell in overtime to Atlanta because to Wiggins’ foot injury, despite Stephen Curry

scoring a season-high 60 points  down the drain.

Later, according to Kerr, X-rays of Wiggin’s foot revealed nothing. It is still unclear when he will return.
