SO SAD: Man Suffers Partial Amputation,Broken Bones In Crash…

Police allege Miami Heat forward Haywood Highsmith caused an accident on Tuesday that left a man with multiple shattered bones and a partially amputated limb. As a result, police gave Highsmith a citation for irresponsible driving. The horrific accident occurred at approximately 11:20 PM, just minutes after Highsmith and the Heat defeated the Orlando Magic at the Kesaya Center in Miami, according to a crash report that TMZ Sports was able to get.

According to the police reports, Highsmith struck the back of a pedestrian who looked to be pulling a broken-down car in the center of the road while traveling at an estimated 45 mph in a 40 mph zone.
According to the documents, Highsmith said the police that when he saw the disabled car on the street, it was not lighting up, and he was unable to stop his vehicle in time.

Authorities noted in the records that the pedestrian suffered a complex fracture to his left leg in addition to losing a portion of his right leg in the collision. The individual may have had a broken left arm, according to reports as well.
The victim was sent to a nearby hospital in critical condition, according to the police. Drugs and alcohol are not reported to have been involved in the crash, but police did note in the documents that Highsmith might have been distracted by unidentified circumstances.

Earlier in the evening, in the Heat’s 121-95 victory, Highsmith played for three minutes. However, he did not participate on Wednesday as the team declared he would be missing their match versus San Antonio for “personal reasons.”

 

Highsmith hasn’t responded to the situation yet. In contrast, a statement from The Heat remarked, “Our hearts go out to those who were injured.”
