“After meeting both of these guys, it was very clear to me that keeping Freddie and G as part of the staff was going to be important to our success,” DeBoer stated. “These guys have great relationships with our players, are outstanding recruiters and have proven to be some of the best coaches in the country.”
Gillespie, who has been at Alabama for four seasons, has coached three NFL running backs and may have tutored a fourth, Jase McClellan, who was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine recently.

Roach is starting his fifth season as a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide. In his time in the position, he has sent four defensive lineman to the NFL. This offseason, he may send a fifth, as Justin Eboigbe was invited to the Combine along with McClellan and eight other teammates from the 2023 squad.
The Board of Trustees must still approve the financial conditions of Roach’s and Gillespie’s contracts. However, according to UA, the relevant Board of Trustees members have been informed of the proposed terms for the two employees.
