The key player for the Celtics, Jayson Tatum, has established himself as one of the league’s best players over the last
few seasons. Despite all of his achievements, Tatum has not yet taken home an NBA championship or the MVP
award for the regular season. In 2022, the Celtics advanced to the Finals before falling to the Golden State Warriors.
In that Finals series, Dubs controversial forward Draymond Green faced off against Tatum, and at All-Star Weekend,
he shared some comments on Tatum’s potential as MVP.
“Until JT wins his first championship, I don’t think he will win his first MVP.” “It’s almost like he’s getting punished
for his early team success,” Green remarked. It feels almost like you’re on a clock right now, one that nobody talks
about, but you are. It seems like they don’t appreciate him to the extent that they should because he lost in both the
Eastern Conference and the Finals. Given that he has been having MVP-caliber years, I believe it to be unfair.
With the Celtics, Jayson Tatum has undoubtedly had seasons deserving of MVP awards. He placed among the top
four candidates for MVP the previous season. He’s perhaps enjoying a season similar to last year’s because the
Celtics have been the best club in the league in 2023–24.

With 47.5 percent shooting from the field, 36.3 percent from the 3-point line, and 82.4 percent from the free throw
line, Tatum is averaging 27.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.0 steals a game. The NBA’s best record has been
continuously owned by the Celtics.
