RIGHT IN: Giants Make Three ‘splash’ moves in 2024…

Having had a dismal 2023 campaign, the New York Giants must aim high.

The NFC East would undoubtedly take notice of these actions.

Although it’s improbable, several mock drafts include LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels going to the Giants at No. 6

due to transactions not being taken into account. New York will have to make a move to get a franchise quarterback

if they so desire (which they should).

QB Jayden Daniels Climbing Draft Boards

According to NFL.com’s Ali Bhanpuri, obtaining the top pick from Chicago would require at least three first-round

selections in addition to second- and third-round choices. That’s a big haul, but if Caleb Williams of USC is as

excellent as they say, it’s well worth it.

Daniel Jones, the No. 6 pick in 2019, was expected to be a quarterback for New York, but after four lost seasons, two

neck problems, and an ACL tear, it’s time to move on.

Last season, New York’s passing attack finished 31st in the NFL, while San Francisco’s Aiyuk led the league in

receiving yards with 1,342.

The 49ers will need to make trades because they only have $570K in cap room for 2024. According to ESPN’s Dan

Graziano, Aiyuk might be the first player to depart.

“Aiyuk would surely be missed, but with all of the massive cap numbers the Niners are projecting for their veterans

in 2024 and in future years, at some point they’re going to need to move on from some of their stars,” Graziano

stated. “I think the most likely outcome of this is that Aiyuk is traded to a team where he can clearly be the starting

wide receiver and where he can get the extension that he desires.

With one year remaining on his rookie contract, Aiyuk can still play for the Giants, who have over $26 million in

salary space. In the event that the 49ers are unable to trade up for a quarterback, the wide receiver would be a

wonderful consolation prize.

With 1,049 yards at the end of the regular season, Philadelphia’s Pro Bowl running back was seventh in the NFL. For

the first time in his four-year career, he played 16 games and maintained a reasonable level of health.

With a high ankle strain that sidelined him for three games in 2023, free agent Saquon Barkley is unable to make the

same claim. More significantly, Barkley may have had his greatest games yet after 1,489 total touches and 74 games.

Swift, on the other hand, has only had 788 touches in the last four years and has been employed infrequently.

Despite having a career-high 229 carries in 2023, he still managed to average a solid 4.6 yards per rush.

The free agent running back, according to Spotrac, should cost about $3 million less annually than Barkley. He could

even improve New York’s awful passing game by providing Jones (or Williams) with a dependable checkdown

option.
