The future of Justin Fields with the Chicago Bears is still up in the air. The team is anticipated to select a player
similar to Caleb Williams or Drake Maye with their first overall pick in the 2017 draft; either player is projected to
replace incumbent quarterback Blake Williams for the team going forward.

This most certainly indicates that Fields, who regrettably is coming off a dismal 2023 campaign, won’t have room
in Chicago.
Sahne Waldron was just hired by the Bears to be their offensive coordinator. This move will significantly affect
Chicago’s plans for the upcoming season, especially with regard to the quarterback position.
Waldron offered his opinions on the team’s quarterback situation in a press conference on Thursday. Josh Alper
of PFT reported that Waldron stated that “adaptability” is the defining characteristic of his approach because he
thinks the Bears would be able to “adjust the scheme to the player’s skillset” once they have inserted that guy into
the offense.

“That is absolutely true,” Waldron remarked. “I’ve felt that way in the past when working with different
quarterbacks and experience levels, whether I was a position coach or the coordinator. Several quarterbacks, in
my opinion, have been able to enter the system, pick it up fast (this begins with our ability to teach it to them in a
clear and effective way), and then make adjustments because every player will have a distinct set of skills. Which
way does it go? The participants actually assume responsibility and command over that.”
In my opinion, Waldron is already ready for the possibility that the Bears will move on from Fields.
