Due to injuries and inconsistent play in the first two years of the Kenny Pickett era, the Pittsburgh Steelers may
decide to replace him this offseason. While Justin Fields’ possible trade destination to Pittsburgh has been discussed,
the Steelers have another option—and it might still include the Chicago Bears—to acquire a new signal-caller. The
Steelers make a major move up the board in the most recent CBS Sports NFL mock draft of 2024, trading up from
the No. 20 pick inside the top 10 and switching places with the Bears to choose Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy
with the No. 9 pick.

Although the exact nature of the compensation involved in this arrangement is unknown, the Steelers believe it is
improbable. Although they should upgrade at quarterback given their current circumstances, it doesn’t appear like
this particular team would trade up into the top 10 for the class’s fourth-best passer at this time.
