Jordan Elliott, a free agent who signed to terms with the team, is expected to join the San Francisco 49ers in place of
defensive end Arik Armstead, as revealed by Elliott’s agent on Tuesday.
Armstead turned down San Francisco’s request to reduce his $17.4 million salary for 2024. The 49ers intend to
release Armstead in response to the ruling, according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.
Instead, Elliott will receive a $10 million, two-year contract from the 49ers. Elliott spent four seasons as a member of
the Cleveland Browns, appearing in 66 games with 35 starts, recording 98 tackles, five sacks, 10 quarterback hits,
and four pass deflections.

Elliott started 31 games in the previous two seasons, when he accumulated the majority of his sacks and tackles.
Elliott acknowledged that his career had a rough beginning but that he overcame it.
In November 2023, Elliott admitted to having misgivings to Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegraph. “I wasn’t even
sure if I was a good fit for the NFL.” Simply being honest.
According to Petrak, Elliott acknowledged the Browns for giving him a shot for so long. Elliott signed a four-year,
$4.5 million rookie contract with the organization; however, he only made four starts in his first two years and did
not begin to see playing time until his third season in 2022.
“It wasn’t handed to me without any explanation.” That’s something I just want to say again. However, it’s huge,”
Elliott remarked. “I put a lot of effort into getting to where I am now. I have not finished yet. Plenty of growth
remains. I will therefore simply keep going forward and aim to improve by 1% every day. Elloitt told Petrak that the
key was motivation and doing workouts only twice a week. After 2021, Elliott made a change, beginning with a five-
day exercise regimen, according to Petrak.
Elliott stated, “I’ve definitely had self-awareness, but I didn’t have the motivation.” “The inability to concentrate, the
disregard for details, and overall lack of expertise.

“I was self-aware but I wasn’t self-aware to the point I wanted to improve. It’s taken me just till now to understand
it,” he added.
Cleveland drafted Elliott out of Missouri in the 2020 NFL Draft with a third round selection. He had a standout
college career with the Tigers and Texas Longhorns amid 52 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and four pass deflections over three
seasons in 26 career games.
Elliott’s journey to college raised some question marks since he committed to Baylor, Michigan, and Houston before
the Longhorns. He had a standout prep career at Westside High School where he played in the U.S. Army All-
American Bowl in 2016 That was among the immaturities. Regarding his collegiate indecision in 2020, Elliott stated
the Akron Beacon-Journal, “That’s not me anymore.” “You hope you’re not the same person you were the day before
when you get up in the morning. It’s all about development. That’s just how I think. That was only a tiny portion of
the entire picture.
