On Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green’s podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,” featured legendary NBA point guard Isiah Thomas.
Thomas made an unexpected statement on the Warriors and their trade for Kevin Durant during his appearance:
Regarding the Warriors dynasty, Thomas stated, “I hope this doesn’t upset you, but let me make a bold statement here.” You guys are remembered as the team that went 73-9 and lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers team in the Finals—you were up 3-1, and it was perhaps one of the worst collapses in NBA Finals history—before Kevin Durant arrived in Golden State.
After that, Thomas helped the Warriors acquire Durant. “That summer, Kevin Durant shows up and essentially saves your basketball legacy.” After that, you win two titles. The Golden State Warriors dynasty is unbreakable; it is the foundation for your induction into the Hall of Fame. Because all of your legacies are different if Durant doesn’t play that summer and you guys are recognized as the 73-9 team.
Green discussed how he assisted in bringing Durant to the Warriors a full year prior to it happening just last week.
