NEW DEAL: Ravens re-sign DL Brent Urban…

Brent Urban, a defensive lineman, is being re-signed by the Baltimore Ravens, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The

Athletic.

Urban, who will be 33 before the 2024 campaign, was selected by the Ravens in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL

draft (with pick No. 134 overall), and he has been a reliable defensive player ever since. His career has been built on

being a rotational snap provider and depth component, primarily in Balitmore.

Urban spent his first four seasons as a player in Baltimore. Despite missing time due to injuries in 2015 and 2017, he

managed to conclude the last year of his rookie contract by starting all 16 games and recording 27 tackles, two passes

defensed, and a half-sack. Despite this, he never became an every-down dominant danger.

Urban played for the Chicago Bears, Tennessee Titans, and Dallas Cowboys during the following three seasons.

However, he returned to Baltimore in the latter stages of his career and has never been more productive. Snaps in

Urban increased in 2023, and production followed behind. In the end, he recorded single-season personal bests with

three sacks, five tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits. In addition to his success on the field, Urban has helped

Baltimore in the previous two seasons by managing the roster and injured reserve with one-day cuts that allow

players to be placed on injured reserve and then re-sign after the 24-hour roster window closes.

For the 2024 campaign, Baltimore’s defensive line is essentially set. The Ravens have Urban, Travis Jones, Michael

Pierce, Justin Madubuike, and Broderick Washington back. For the time being, there won’t be a significant

requirement, but they will need to start bringing in younger bodies.
