BREAKING NEWS: Joey Bosa restructures contract, ends 49ers speculation…

The Los Angeles Chargers seem to have other ideas, despite the hopes of many 49ers supporters that Joey Bosa will move to San Francisco to play with his brother Nick.
According to sources cited by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday, the older Bosa renegotiated his deal with the Los Angeles Chargers and will stay with the team.

Joey Bosa shrugs off concerns about laid-back approach

Many in the NFL had anticipated some major roster adjustments, including removing Bosa to make salary cap room, ever since Los Angeles acquired new Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortiz this offseason.
In 2020, Bosa inked a lucrative five-year contract worth $135 million with Los Angeles, considering that his injuries during the previous two seasons had only allowed him to play in 14 games.
The mother of Nick and Joey, Cheryl Bosa, had even jumped on the bandwagon, pleading with the 49ers to consider signing her oldest son so the brothers could play together.

Given their salary budget predicament, it looked doubtful that the 49ers would acquire the elder Bosa because they were moving in a different direction as well. They signed defensive end Leonard Floyd to play opposite of Bosa on the defensive line and traded for defensive lineman Maliek Collins.
