Philadelphia will be receiving a former Super Bowl champion. Devin White, a linebacker, was signed by the
Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday for a one-year contract worth $7.5 million.
The team’s obvious need at linebacker will be greatly addressed by the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer. White
participated in the Buccaneers’ 2020 Super Bowl run and is a former Pro Bowl player. That year may have been his
greatest ever, as he finished the regular season with 140 total stops (97 solo, 43 assisted), 16 quarterback hits, 9.0
sacks, four passes defensed, and a forced fumble. With 38 total tackles (27 solo, 11 assisted), two fumble recoveries,
two passes defended, and two interceptions—one of which was the game-winning interception on Patrick Mahomes
during Super Bowl LV—White continued his outstanding play into the postseason.

The season following his championship-winning year, he was selected to the Pro Bowl. In 14 games played this past
2023, White recorded 83 tackles (49 solo, 34 assisted), six passes defended, and two interceptions during the regular
season.
White finished 34th among starting linebackers in PFF’s coverage rankings last season. In 2022, he ranked 39th, and
in 2021, 40th. (via Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP.com)
White’s longevity is another aspect that would make Eagles supporters value this latest addition. Throughout each of
his seasons with the Buccaneers, the 26-year-old has played in at least 13 games, demonstrating his lack of absences.
Zack Baun and White are two more fresh faces in the Eagles’ linebacker rotation. His contract was signed at a time
when the linebacker free-agent market was beginning to dwindle. Well-known players like Bobby Wagner, Lavonte
David, and Frankie Luvu have already been signed.

Regarding the Eagles, they recently inked a lucrative contract with standout running back Saquon Barkley, who
became a member of the team this past Wednesday. Barkley becomes a part of the Eagles core that still features
Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, AJ Brown, and Dallas Goedert under contract. With requirements met on both sides of
the ball, the Eagles anticipate having a successful 2024 season.
