Wide receiver Tee Higgins is someone the Cincinnati Bengals have often stated they want to retain around for the
long run.
At this week’s league meetings, as anticipated, Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn stated that the team
wants to retain both Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase on long-term contracts. There is still attention on the contracts of
franchise free agency wide receiver Tee Higgins and three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. She
mentioned that they wanted to permanently secure both.
Of course, easier said than done. Nonetheless, the Chase extension is hardly a cause for concern.
Now that Higgins has filed a trade request and been franchise-tagged, the situation involving him is even more
troubling. Zac Taylor, the head coach, doesn’t seem like he expects a deal to materialize, despite a story that the
Bengals will take calls and consider trade offers.
Although another report claims they didn’t hear anything about a trade during the scouting combine, Cincinnati
would be doing itself a disservice if the front staff didn’t conduct due diligence and pay attention to any trade offers
that are received.

It has always seemed most likely that Higgins will play out 2024 on a tag, and following a sharp increase in the salary
limit throughout the league, it is feasible that the front management will take a second look at franchise tag, which
could impact extension talks.
In any case, Higgins will play on the tag for the upcoming season unless he and the Bengals can reach an agreement
on an extension before mid-July.
