Gary Mackay-Steven, formerly of Hearts and Celtic, has committed to Kilmarnock for the long term by agreeing to a
one-year contract that would keep him with the team until June 2025.
The 33-year-old winger began his senior career with Airdrie United after training with Fulham and Liverpool as a
young player. However, it was his performance for Dundee United from 2011 to 2015 that secured him a transfer to
Celtic.
He assisted the Hoops in winning three league titles and the Scottish League Cup in the span of two and a half
seasons.

He later worked for Aberdeen and New York City before joining Hearts and going back to Scotland. He participated
in 16 games during his rookie campaign at Tynecastle, helping the Jambos win the Championship championship.
In a season that also saw Hearts advance to the Scottish Cup final, Mackay-Steven was a key component of the
team’s third-place result the following year. Due to injury setbacks during his final season in Edinburgh, he was
forced to leave the team in 2023 when his contract expired.
He signed a short-term contract in December after spending several months training with Kilmarnock, and he
appeared eight times as the team finished fourth, which was their highest result since 2018–19.
The 33-year-old will play in Europe for Kilmarnock next season, and the team is thrilled to have him back.
Gary Mackay-Steven has dedicated his future to Kilmarnock, as seen by his recent contract signing, which will keep
him here until 2025, subject to approval, according to a club statement.

“The deft attacker has committed to a new contract at Rugby Park, and his extensive background will be invaluable
in the lead-up to our European games.”
